Libertas Middle School
Memphis, TN
4FDesign partnered with Libertas School of Memphis to transform the former Southwest Tennessee Community College Frayser campus into a vibrant new middle school that supports the school’s continued growth and Montessori-based educational mission. Through the adaptive reuse of the existing campus, the project creates a secure, engaging, and student-centered learning environment while maximizing the value of existing facilities.
The design includes renovated classrooms, science and innovation spaces, a library, administrative offices, collaborative learning environments, arts and performance spaces, a learning kitchen, workshop, gymnasium, and outdoor athletic and recreational areas. Site improvements enhance campus circulation, security, and accessibility while establishing a welcoming identity for students, families, and the surrounding community.
Working closely with Libertas leadership, 4FDesign developed a phased implementation strategy that allows the school to expand enrollment while supporting long-term campus growth. The project reflects 4FDesign’s expertise in educational planning, adaptive reuse, and creating inspiring learning environments that strengthen communities and provide lasting value for students and educators.
